Joint mobilization is a specific manual treatment modality to treat musculoskeletal conditions. It’s been used successfully for many years and as a result it is considered to be one of the most common therapuetic modalities used today by trained physical therapists.
The therapist uses a series of precise passive movement motions of the skeletal joint that is in pain and/or causing pain.
The movements are performed slowly, without stretches and without twisting. The goal of the therapy is to increase range of motion and of course decrease pain.
The movements are guided by the pain tolerance of the patient.
