Yoga is an ancient practice that focuses on gentle movement, breathwork (or pranayama), and union of the mind and body. Yoga can be an effective method of building the concentration, focus, and mind-body awareness required during pregnancy, labor and delivery. Yoga therapy is also helpful in assisting expectant mothers in finding positions of comfort for relief of pregnancy-related symptoms, such as back pain, cramping and reflux, that often occur over the course of pregnancy. Prenatal yoga is a modified yoga practice that will ensure the safety of mother and baby. Because there is little equipment involved, clients can use their prenatal yoga practice regularly at home as they learn from their yoga practitioner over the course of their pregnancy.
